Without a doubt, Lacoste is the best make out there for polo shirts. Not only do they have a vast range of colours, but also a vast range of sizes. Made of the finest Devanlay cotton, they have to be the most comfortable garments out there.
They retail at £55, as do the Ralph Lauren polos but in my opinion, they beat RL hands down! Other designers such as Armani and Prada have all entered the polo shirt market but at £60 to £85 each, they don't give you value for money, and they're nowhere near as good as Lacoste's.
I just bought a polo shirt for myself, and being a larger guy than most, I didn't know where to look for my size as they're not generally stocked on the high street. But I found a website on Google called www.largelacoste.vstore.ca, and it's absolutely fantastic for authentic Lacoste polo shirts for the larger man. The delivery was around 2 days, very good compared to most online retailers, and overall it was a pleasant buying experience, and it was a completely genuine Lacoste polo, unlike most you'd find on eBay. Check it out for yourself!
The biggest problem with buying polo shirts online is the whole fake/genuine thing. However, with my guide, you'll be getting a real one every time.
1) The crocodile logo should be between the button and bottom of the collar placket.
2) All Lacoste polos have a size number in red in the top left hand corner of the collar label, between 1 and 10. It should not say XXL or XL in letters!
3) All Lacoste polos have the following code on the same label as above: RN 87651 - CA 15998. If it ain't got this, it's fake!
4) Lacoste polos are fine pieces of clothing. The buttons on real ones are unique Mother of Pearl buttons, there's no two exactly the same. So if your polo has just white plastic ones, it is most certainly fake!
5) Look at the crocodile. It should face outwards, and shouldn't be tilted, facing inwards, etc.
6) Where is the polo made? It should read "Designed in France, Made in Peru". NOT CHINA!
7) Take a look at the general stitching quality. Is it rough and tatty, or perfect?
Guess which one's the fake stitching!
8) Bags and tags aren't proof of authenticity. A real Lacoste 'bag' has the logo and wording in white, at the bottom centre. If its the traditional green croc, its fake.
9) Lacoste polos should REAK of quality. Get the general feel of your polo shirt. Is it light and perfect, or heavy and poor quality?
10) It should be made of 100% DEVANLAY COTTON.
Thanks for reading, and I hope you find this post useful.
As I said earlier, I got my genuine polo shirt from www.largelacoste.vstore.ca, so if you're a big guy like me, check it out!
